We're looking for an Operations Trader to join our Index Options desk. This role sits at the intersection of trading, production operations, and technology — executing and monitoring index options strategies in real time, owning the day-to-day health of the book, and digging into execution quality and system behavior when things don't go as expected. We're especially interested in people who have owned the day-to-day of their own strategies before, even if that ownership wasn't the headline of their last role. Your Core Responsibilities: Trade Execution & Risk Monitoring Execute and monitor index options strategies (Nifty, Bank Nifty) in real time, keeping algo activity within risk and margin limits. Manage contract rolls — transitioning positions from back-month to front-month strategies — and maintain the automation that supports this. Perform post-trade analysis on fills, market share, and execution quality. Apply rigorous statistical methods to ensure the robustness and reliability of results Production & Operational Ownership Own reconciliation, network connectivity checks, and other production-health tasks that keep the desk running, even when they're not the most visible part of the job. Investigate execution issues end-to-end — tracing latency and timelines of how information moves between internal systems and the exchange Comfortable moving between well-defined, implementation-style tasks and open-ended investigations where the question itself needs to be framed. Automation & Tooling Build and maintain automation in Python and Bash to reduce manual intervention and operational risk — e.g., auto-liquidation workflows, contract-roll automation, monitoring scripts. Collaboration & Market Awareness Build a deep understanding of market behaviour, pricing dynamics, and structural inefficiencies Partner with Quant Researchers, Developers, Risk, and Operations to troubleshoot production issues and improve execution reliability — and bring genuine curiosity about how these workflows scale in a larger team. Communicate clearly and in a structured way — able to explain technical or operational issues to both trading and non-trading stakeholders. Mentor and train junior team members on desk processes and tools as the team grows. Your Skills and Experience: Prior experience in trading operations, execution, or production support at a proprietary trading firm, market maker, or similar high-frequency environment Strong foundation in probability, statistics, and quantitative modelling Experience working with large datasets and time-series data Strong programming skills in at least one language, preferably Python Curious and analytical mindset, with a focus on problem-solving and innovation Demonstrated ownership of production/operational tasks — reconciliation, connectivity, monitoring — beyond what's typically listed on a resume. Experience investigating execution or system performance (latency analysis, timeline tracing across systems) is a strong plus. No prior options experience required — but genuine initiative to learn (e.g., familiarity with options greeks, dynamic hedging, or having worked through texts like Natenberg) is a strong signal. Comfortable operating under pressure during live market hours, including trading halts and reconciliations. Strong communicator who structures ideas clearly and engages well in technical discussions. Proactive mindset — someone who automates away recurring issues rather than just resolving them each time. Track record of building automation that reduced manual or operational risk (e.g., auto-liquidation, contract-roll workflows). Exposure to Indian equity/index derivatives market microstructure. Experience mentoring or training junior team members. About Us IMC is a global trading firm powered by a cutting-edge research environment and a world-class technology backbone.
