About the Role As an Engineering Technician, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of our state-of-the-art, automated Customer Fulfilment Centre in Erith. You'll be the first line of response for engineering faults, working quickly and effectively to diagnose and resolve issues that could impact performance. Alongside reactive maintenance, you’ll carry out planned servicing and repairs to keep our equipment in top condition, while also getting involved in proactive improvement projects to enhance reliability and efficiency. This is a hands-on role where you'll work with cutting-edge technology in a fast-paced, high-tech environment You will work a shift pattern to support our 24/7 operation, consisting of 12 hour shifts across days, nights and weekends. About you Are you the one we’re looking for? Here’s what makes a great Engineering Technician candidate: Technical understanding of automation hardware/software and ideally control systems, with a formal engineering qualification is preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on, practical approach. Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and share knowledge effectively. Comfortable working at height using access equipment, in line with site safety standards. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one.
