The Machine Operator 1 in the Door Building Department is primarily responsible for preparing materials, assembling door units, and supporting the efficient production of high-quality finished doors. This role is ideal for an individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, has strong attention to detail, excellent attendance, and a commitment to safety and quality. Job Responsibilities Include: • Operate saws and other cutting equipment to accurately cut door frame components and materials according to specifications and work orders • Pull, verify, and stage hardware, components, and materials required for door assembly • Assemble door units according to customer specifications, quality standards, and production schedules • Read and interpret work orders, production paperwork, and assembly instructions to ensure accurate product completion • Inspect materials and finished products for quality, accuracy, and defects throughout the assembly process • Safely use hand tools, power tools, and manufacturing equipment required for door production • Maintain organization of hardware, materials, and workstations to support efficient workflow and inventory accuracy • Assist with material movement and staging of completed door units for the next phase of production or shipment • Perform basic measurements and verify dimensions to ensure products meet required specifications • Identify and report quality, equipment, or safety concerns to department leadership • Maintain a clean and safe work area in accordance with company safety policies and housekeeping standards • Work closely with team members and department leadership to meet production goals and customer expectations • Assist in other production areas and perform additional duties as assigned to support overall plant operations What We're Looking For • Previous manufacturing, assembly, or production experience preferred • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and cutting equipment • Ability to read and comprehend work instructions, production schedules, and assembly drawings • Ability to perform basic math calculations and use measuring devices accurately, including tape measures • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment • Strong teamwork and communication skills • Punctual with excellent attendance and dependability • Willingness to learn and follow established safety and quality procedures • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and flexible schedules as business needs require • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift Preferred Qualifications • Experience in door assembly, fabrication, or manufacturing operations • Experience reading shop drawings, cut lists, or production specifications • Familiarity with inventory control and material handling processes • Forklift experience preferred but not required • Experience working in a production-driven environment with safety and quality performance expectations What OBE Offers You Benefits that benefit you – industry competitive benefits at the lowest cost to the employee Work-life balance – PTO and holidays, including floating holidays you can choose Compensation that rewards your hard work – A pay-for-performance culture with potential for annual raises and bonuses Training – We will equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to succeed OBE Privacy Policy OBE will not discharge or discriminate against employees or applicants for discussing, disclosing, or inquiring about their own or others' pay.
