ON.energy is building the backbone of energy and AI infrastructure powering grid-safe data centers and mission-critical facilities. The company supplies and operates hyperscale power systems that solve the toughest resilience challenges, delivering custom solutions for AI data centers, mission-critical facilities, and front-of-the-meter assets. ON recently announced a 5GW partnership, with 3GW currently under construction across multiple hyperscale data center campuses. With patented technology and proprietary software, ON.energy develops projects worldwide that set new benchmarks for resilience. We are looking for a hands-on Senior Data Engineer to join a small team (2 Data Engineers + 1 Data Analyst). You will help scale our AWS-based data infrastructure, working primarily with industrial data sources and high-volume time-series data. Responsibilities Will Include: Engage directly with end users to understand how they consume data, and design solutions that serve their needs. Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for batch and real-time processing, including high-frequency time-series ingestion. Evolve the Data Lakehouse—optimizing storage, performance, and data consistency. Manage orchestration workflows with complex dependencies and error handling. Implement data governance, security controls, and audit policies across the AWS ecosystem, leveraging services such as AWS Lake Formation for centralized data lake permissions and governance. Optimize performance and cost (FinOps); identify and resolve technical bottlenecks. Partner with the Data Analyst to deliver production-ready, analytics-optimized datasets. Build monitoring, alerting, and data quality testing for platform reliability. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. At a minimum, 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, or related roles. Deep hands-on experience with core AWS data services: Glue, Athena, Step Functions, Lambda, Kinesis, and Lake Formation. Hands-on experience with Apache Iceberg (required). Expert proficiency in Python (PySpark / Python Shell) and advanced SQL (window functions, CTEs, execution plan tuning). Solid grasp of ETL/ELT tooling and dimensional modeling best practices (Kimball). Experience preparing data architectures for visualization tools and operational/management reporting. Practical experience with NoSQL engines (e.g., DynamoDB) and relational SQL databases. Infrastructure as Code: Terraform or AWS CloudFormation. Preferred Experience: Apache Airflow (MWAA experience preferred) or native AWS orchestration. Familiarity with dbt, Airbyte, or Fivetran. Experience automating CI/CD for Glue jobs or Lambda deployments. Soft Skills: Senior peer mindset—leads through code reviews and mentorship, not hierarchy. Pragmatic decision-maker who picks the right tool for cost, efficiency, and project needs. Strong ownership of end-to-end data quality and system availability. Clear communicator who can translate business needs into technical solutions. For US-based roles - What you’ll get: Competitive salary + annual performance-based bonus eligibility Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off and company holidays For Mexico-based roles - What you’ll get: Competitive salary + annual performance bonus eligibility Christmas Bonus (Aguinaldo): 30 days Major medical expenses and life insurance Paid time off and holidays (per local policy) For all roles: Professional development and growth opportunities Opportunity to grow with a mission-driven team shaping the future of clean energy Equal Opportunity: ON.energy is committed to equal employment opportunity and to maintaining a work environment free of harassment, discrimination, or retaliation. 144,883 engineer jobs are open right now

Here's how to pick the right one and stand out in your application.

144.883Jobs

That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
