Housing Inspector

Performs rental housing inspections to enforce conformance with the most recently adopted codes including but not limited to the International Code Series, Uniform Code Series, HUD Inspection Standards, and/or any other codes, ordinances, regulations, or laws pertaining to rental housing; performs lead inspection/risk assessments as required for the HUD Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Rent Assistance Program; enforces nuisance/code violations; performs a wide variety of general office duties; does related work as required. Acceptable Experience And Training Graduation from high school or equivalent supplemented by six to twelve months additional training in property maintenance, property management, building trades, construction or closely related fields or educational training as a required minimum; andSome experience in code enforcement work with a City government preferred, preferably in the State of Iowa; orAny equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work. Required Special Qualifications Possession of a valid Driver's License issued by the State of Iowa;Depending on program funding, HUD inspection certification within a reasonable period of time;Certified Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor or ability to obtain certification within a reasonable period of time.
