At Amazon, we are working to be the most customer-centric company on earth while ensuring that every product sold on our platform is safe and compliant. Compliance touches every seller who lists on Amazon and every customer who buys. Today, sellers navigate a fragmented compliance landscape across multiple domains, marketplaces, and regulatory regimes. We believe this can be fundamentally simpler. If you want to build the products that make compliance invisible to sellers and safety continuous for customers, this is your opportunity. We are looking for a Principal Product Manager - Technical to join our Compliance and Safety Services (CoSS) team in Seattle, WA. You should have deep technical problem-solving skills, the ability to define and drive multi-year product strategy across organizational boundaries, and the communication skills to align VP-level leadership, engineering teams, and cross-functional partners around a shared vision. You should be comfortable creating clarity from ambiguity, defining metrics where none exist, and influencing teams you do not directly manage. This is a role for a builder who thinks in systems and ships at scale. This role sits within the global product team responsible for Amazon's compliance technology platform, serving all of Amazon's consumer businesses including Amazon.com, third-party marketplace, fulfillment, and emerging commerce surfaces. The team builds products that reduce seller compliance friction while strengthening customer safety, operating across 400M+ active listings, 200+ regulations, and 17 global marketplaces. The role is inherently cross-functional: you will work closely with engineering, science, legal, public policy, program management, operations, and seller experience teams to define the architecture and execution plan for how compliance works at Amazon over the next 2-3 years. A successful candidate will own a program-level product strategy spanning the full seller compliance journey (pre-listing, during listing, post-listing), drive technical architecture decisions for shared infrastructure that multiple teams consume, define and hold program metrics reported to senior leadership, and manage dependencies across 5+ partner organizations. You will bring products from vision through funded delivery, not just write documents. Prior experience in compliance, regulatory technology, marketplace trust, or platform products serving multiple consuming teams is preferred. You should be passionate about seller experience, data-driven decision making, and building products that operate at massive scale. Key job responsibilities You must be able to: 1. Define and drive a multi-year product strategy for seller compliance that spans multiple domains, marketplaces, and regulatory regimes, translating ambiguous problem spaces into funded delivery plans 2. Work with internal customers (seller experience teams, compliance program teams, enforcement operations) to understand their pain points and existing solutions, and define shared infrastructure that eliminates redundant builds 3. Collaborate with engineering, science, and AI/ML teams to drive technical architecture decisions and product roadmaps for compliance automation and seller friction reduction 4. Own program-level metrics (seller effort, compliance cost, cross-marketplace expansion) and report progress to VP-level leadership, creating measurement where none exists today 5. Manage cross-team dependencies across 5+ partner organizations with varying priorities, ensuring timely delivery without direct authority over those teams 6. Address bottlenecks, anticipate tradeoffs, and balance seller experience improvements against regulatory risk, technical constraints, and resource limitations 7. Write strategy documents and one-pagers that drive leadership decisions, not just describe possibilities 8. Query and analyze data to ground product recommendations in seller behavior, usage patterns, and compliance outcomes rather than intuition A day in the life You operate at the intersection of strategy and execution. In a single day you might review compliance metrics to identify where seller friction concentrates, debate architecture decisions on cross-regulation evidence reuse with engineering, negotiate scope with a partner team, and write the narrative that ties it all together for a leadership review. You are comfortable with ambiguity, fast context-switching, and influencing across organizational boundaries. You measure success by what sellers no longer have to do, not by what your team built. About the team Compliance and Safety Services (CoSS) builds the technology that keeps Amazon's store safe for customers while making compliance achievable for sellers. Our work spans the full seller journey, from pre-listing requirements through post-listing monitoring, and touches every Amazon consumer business. We are a team of product managers, engineers, scientists, and program managers solving problems at the intersection of regulatory complexity, seller experience, and AI-powered automation.
