Job Title: Diesel Mechanic Department: Maintenance / Workshop Location: Durban North, KwaZulu-Natal Employment Type: Permanent About Us Stratogo is a professional recruitment and workforce solutions company specializing in sourcing and placing top talent across various industries. Our client, based in Durban North , is seeking a qualified and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, diagnostics, and repair of diesel vehicles and equipment. Important Location Requirement: Candidates residing in or near Phoenix, Umhlanga, Tongaat, or surrounding areas will be considered. Key Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance and manage maintenance schedules. Conduct routine inspections on diesel vehicles and equipment. Attend to after-hours breakdowns and callouts. Service and repair key systems, including: Fuel systems Cooling systems Exhaust systems Braking systems Air systems Transmission systems Diagnose and repair electrical systems, sensors, and ECMs. Ensure all repairs are completed according to required safety and performance standards. Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation. Communicate repair requirements and progress to supervisors. Estimate repair timelines and identify required parts. Identify mechanical and electrical faults and implement appropriate repairs. Ensure all work is completed accurately and efficiently. Minimum Requirements 5–8 years' experience as a Diesel Mechanic. Diesel Mechanic Trade Test Certificate – ESSENTIAL. Strong experience in diesel diagnostics, engines, repairs, servicing, and maintenance. Valid driver's licence. Must be willing to work shifts, overtime, standby, weekends, and callouts . IMPORTANT: Applications from candidates who do not have the required Diesel Mechanic Trade Test qualification will not be considered. Skills & Competencies Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
