Our client, operating in the automotive component manufacturing industry. is looking to hire an experienced Mechatronics Engineer to join their growing Manufacturing Department based in New Germany, KZN. This role will report into the Manufacturing Director. Purpose of the Role: To operationally support current manufacturing facilities and all other related projects. To use a combination of mechanical, electrical, computer and software skills to work with smart technologies such as robots, automated guided systems and computer-integrated manufacturing equipment. This will contribute to creating an essential foundation for the expected growth in automation within manufacturing. Minimum Requirements: BSc Degree in Mechatronics or equivalent qualification 3 - 5 years' experience in PLC and computer programming environment within the automotive industry, of which 1-2 years' is software/electronic development experience Advanced proficiency in IT skills and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint etc.) Computer programming experience (Delphi advantageous, Labview, C#, asp.net) PLC programming knowledge (RS Logix 500, RS Logix 5000, Festo FST, Festo Codesys) Robot Programming (Fanuc, Yaskawa, Denso) Machine automation, integration and controls experience Windows Server management and IT infrastructure experience Database development and administration experience MySQL experience advantageous Mechanical and basic electronic knowledge Project Management skills Main duties will include, but are not limited to: Take responsibility for assigned projects in line with divisional requirements. Control and maintain Mechatronics Associated Spares requirements for the Plant. Conduct timeous Mechatronics repairs and maintenance to plant equipment. Maintain an effective back-up of all software & PLC programs associated with plant and facilities. Ensure timeous response to faults. Maintain machine uptime. Conduct effective troubleshooting to identify problems and carry out repairs. Perform scheduled maintenance on facilities and attending to breakdown. Support all departments with mechatronics requirements. Develop and build new mechatronics facilities. Facilitate the wiring of PLC panels and other electronic machinery. Conduct PLC and other software programming. Assist in upgrading current facilities and electronic advancement ideas. Ensuring all documentation is completed timeously. Managing the network infrastructure. Management of the production IT systems and servers. Manage database administration and development. Ensure good housekeeping at all times. Work within stipulated budget constraints. Identify project timing and ensure that it is maintained.
