Our client is seeking an experienced PHP Developer to take ownership of a mature, business-critical PHP platform that forms the foundation of its Revenue Systems division. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced developer who enjoys working with established production systems while driving continuous improvements, long-term scalability, and technical excellence. The successful candidate will become the internal technical authority on a platform supporting a growing customer base. Key Responsibilities Take ownership of an existing PHP-based software platform following a structured knowledge transfer from an external development partner. Support, maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance a mature production system. Develop new functionality while improving system performance, reliability, and maintainability. Work with legacy and modern PHP codebases, implementing best development practices. Design, optimise, and maintain relational database structures and queries. Build and maintain RESTful APIs and third-party integrations. Participate in Git-based development workflows, code reviews, and CI/CD processes. Collaborate within Agile/Scrum teams to deliver high-quality software solutions. Contribute to architectural improvements and help build internal technical capability. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent commercial experience with a strong portfolio. 5+ years of commercial PHP development experience. Strong proficiency in PHP 8 or later. Experience with Laravel and/or Symfony. Ability to work confidently with both modern and legacy PHP applications. Strong knowledge of MySQL and/or PostgreSQL. Experience with ORMs such as Eloquent or Doctrine. Experience building and integrating RESTful APIs. Understanding of OAuth2, JWT, API Keys, and secure API development.
