A leading industrial water pump company is looking for an experienced Technical Sales Professional with strong experience in internal sales within the commercial and industrial water pump sector to join their team in Blackheath. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the full internal sales cycle, providing technically accurate pump and motor specifications, preparing quotations and converting technical enquiries into sales. This is a highly autonomous role suited to a technically strong sales professional with a proven pump industry background and the ability to confidently engage with industrial buyers, farmers, consulting engineers and commercial clients. Responsibilities: Manage the full internal sales cycle for industrial water pumps, including centrifugal, submersible, booster and borehole pumps, as well as electric motors. Read and interpret pump curves to calculate head, flow and friction loss. Specify the correct pumps and electric motors for agricultural, mining, domestic and municipal applications. Source suitable alternative-equivalent products when preferred brands are unavailable while maintaining strong gross profit margins. Handle inbound technical enquiries and provide appropriate technical solutions. Prepare accurate and competitive quotations. Follow up consistently on quotations and technical enquiries to close sales. Build and maintain strong relationships with industrial buyers, farmers, consulting engineers, homeowners and commercial customers. Communicate technical mechanical concepts clearly and confidently to both technical and non-technical customers. Requirements: Minimum 5 years' verifiable internal sales experience specifically within the water pump industry . Proven experience in the South African commercial and industrial pump sector. Strong technical understanding of pump systems, including head, flow and friction loss. Ability to read and interpret complex pump curves. Ability to correctly specify pumps and electric motors for various applications. Fluent in technical Afrikaans and excellent written and spoken English. Strong sales ability with a proven focus on converting enquiries and achieving targets. Friendly, conscientious, driven and highly self-motivated personality. Code 08 driver's licence. Own reliable vehicle. SABI registration would be advantageous. Established knowledge of the Cape Town pump market and clientele would be advantageous.
